Facetime

Face Time is an installation about the strange space of missing someone while still being connected to them. Two people meet through the language of a video call: close enough to see each other’s faces, but still separated by screens, pixels, delays and awkward angles.

Video projection, single-channel video, 2:00 min, loop

Long distance connections produce not only emotions, but also their own languages, based on the digital products we use. Image within an image, weird angles, vertical videos, mirrors of yourself, interface features: they all become part of our new shared language and of our relationships. The language of an interface frames every act of intimacy, when we get so close, but instead of feeling each other’s skin, it’s just pixels on the screen.
